Art Speaking provides an opportunity for access by highlighting specially chosen pieces for interpretation. This is where the interpreter will bring the pieces to life by describing an artwork’s form, colour, subject matter and mood. The curator will provide the context for each piece.
Each event consists of a description of the work by a trained interpreter, a curator’s talk, plus supervised close access to the exhibit.
The galleries participating in the project are:
- Wolverhampton Museum and Art Gallery
- Herbert Art Gallery and Museum, Coventry
- The New Art Gallery Walsall
- Leamington Spa Art Gallery and Museum
Funded by Arts Council, England, West Midlands, Art Speaking is a challenging project which will help visually impaired people to gain access to the magnificent collections of art housed in four galleries in the West Midlands.
